Villas Total Rehab Therapy Wing

The Villas Senior Care Community is proud to provide a comprehensive therapy program known as Villas Total Rehab or VTR. This program consists of physical therapy services, occupational therapy, and speech therapy administered by state-licensed professionals under the supervision of Dr. Gill, our medical director. We understand that rehabilitation plays an integral role in recovery, and that’s why we offer total therapy to benefit our seniors. Our therapy team uses a collaborative approach to set appropriate goals for each individual and assists seniors in achieving them. Overall, our commitment is to provide patients with proper therapeutic services to achieve and maintain the highest level of independence while improving quality of life.

Our skilled nursing campus houses 22 private Medicare-certified suites and a spacious therapy gym. VTR provides a comfortable, healing environment with a separate dining room and lounge area, and a private outdoor courtyard. The gym is beautiful, open, and modern with exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, and large windows. It is equipped with a variety of  the finest fitness equipment to help increase seniors’ strength and reach the goals set by the therapy department and your doctor. The therapy wing also has a fully functional kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room for additional training.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy addresses essential elements in the treatment of individuals with physical limitations or generalized weaknesses impacting ambulation and overall strength. Skilled physical therapy treatments may include:

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy provides treatment programs based on purposeful activity to help individuals with activities of daily living. Skilled occupational therapy may include:

  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Activities of daily living techniques including bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene, and home management tasks
  • Assistive devices and adaptive equipment
  • Upper body strengthening and coordination
  • Home evaluation to increase safety upon discharge from the campus
  • Caregiver education

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy provides assessment and treatment for speech-­language, communication, hearing, cognition, and swallowing disorders. The goal is to improve expressive and receptive language as well as cognitive-­linguistic skills to enhance functional communication. Seniors with difficulty swallowing or chewing food may benefit from a speech-­swallowing evaluation to achieve and maintain the least restrictive diet consistency and improve quality of life. Skilled speech therapy treatment may include:

  • Receptive/expressive language therapy
  • Aural rehabilitation
  • Aphasia treatment
  • Oral motor exercise
  • Cognitive-­Linguistic retraining
  • Dysphagia management
