New Villas Total Therapy Wing, now open!

The Villas Senior Care Community is proud to provide a comprehensive therapy program known as "Villas Total Rehab", or VTR.
VTR offers Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy administered by state licensed professionals under the supervision of Dr. Gill, our Medical Director. We have a 24-bed Rehabilitation Unit in our Skilled Nursing facility. Our new 13,000 square-foot addition also features 10 private Medicare-certified suites and a spacious therapy gym.

Our commitment is to provide the patients with appropriate therapeutic services to achieve and maintain the highest level of independence while improving quality of life. Rehabilitation is the process of restoring a person’s ability to return to the prior level of function after a disabling injury or illness. Rehabilitation is an integral part in recovery. A collaborative approach is used to ensure the goals are appropriate for the individual. The therapy department wants patients to achieve their rehab potential and meet their goals.The rehabilitation department provides licensed professionals in physical, occupational and speech therapy.

VTR's state-of-the-art equipments includes:

  • 2 Scifit recumbent bicycles which feature a removable seat for direct wheelchair access, bi-directional resistance for versatility and reciprocal muscle balance, and multi-level resistance
  • Keiser Triple Trainer with unlimited possibilities for training equipped to handle any workload, any speed and any plane
  • True Elliptical
  • SportsArt Fitness Treadmill, optimal for cardiac rehab patients, featuring a large running surface and an easy to use touch screen monitor

The therapy gym is also equipped with a variety of free weights. The gym is beautiful, open & modern with exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, and large windows. The new therapy wing has a private therapy room, along with a fully functional kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room for additional training.

Physical Therapy:


Physical therapy addresses important elements in the treatment of individuals with physical limitations or generalized weaknesses impacting ambulation and overall strength. The goal is to achieve the highest level of independence and maintain the highest quality of life. Skilled physical therapy treatments may include:

  • Balance training
  • Bed mobility
  • Transfers
  • Gait training
  • Assistive device training (including walkers, wheelchairs, canes, etc.)
  • Pain management
  • Amputee care and prosthetics
  • Osteopathic release
  • Strength training and coordination
  • Functional maintenance programs
  • Restorative programs
  • Home evaluations to assess safety upon returning home
  • Caregiver education
  • Ultrasound/Electrical Stimulation


Occupational Therapy:


Occupational therapy provides treatment programs based on PURPOSEFUL ACTIVITY to help an individual with activities of daily living to be as independent as possible and achieve the highest quality of life. Skilled occupational therapy may include:

  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Activities of daily living techniques including bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene and home management tasks
  • Assistive devices/adaptive equipment
  • Upper body strengthening and coordination
  • Home evaluation to increase safety upon discharge from facility
  • Caregiver education

Speech Therapy:

Speech therapy provides evaluation and treatment for speech-­language, communication, hearing, cognition, and swallowing disorders. The goal is to improve expressive/receptive language and cognitive-­linguistic skills to enhance functional communication. Also, residents with difficulty swallowing/chewing food may benefit from a speech-­swallowing evaluation to achieve and maintain the least restrictive diet consistency and improve quality of life. Skilled speech therapy treatment may include:

  • Receptive/expressive language therapy
  • Aural rehabilitation
  • Aphasia treatment
  • Oral motor exercise
  • Cognitive-­Linguistic retraining
  • Dysphagia management
  • Caregiver education

VTR provides a comfortable, healing environment with a separate dining room and lounge area, and a private outdoor courtyard.

All VTR staff receives specialized training in caring for the patients. Family members are encouraged to participate as much as possible in their loved one’s care.
